In a landmark event at Maharashtra’s official residence, Varsha Bungalow, Amol Muzumdar, coach of India’s women’s cricket team, celebrated the team’s outstanding success at the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. Attended by dignitaries like Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the ceremony commemorated India’s first World Cup victory in women’s cricket after three consecutive runner-up finishes.

India clinched the championship with a decisive 52-run victory over South Africa at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, marking a transformative moment for women’s cricket in the nation. Beyond a sporting triumph, it represents a pivotal shift for women’s cricket in India, inspiring countless fans and heralding a promising future for female athletes nationwide.

Muzumdar highlighted the national importance of this win, despite never playing for the Indian men’s team himself.
