Yograj Singh: 2011 World Cup Win Cost 7 Players Their Careers

In a recent interview with InsideSport, former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh made a big claim about what happened after India’s 2011 World Cup victory.

According to Yograj, the success in 2011 did not benefit all the players. Instead, it ended the careers of seven important Indian cricketers for no clear reason.

Players Dropped After 2011 World Cup

Yograj Singh said that after the 2011 World Cup win, players like: Yuvraj Singh , Gautam Gambhir , Zaheer Khan ,Harbhajan Singh ,Rahul Dravid ,Mohammad Kaif , VVS Laxman
were pushed out of the team, even though they had played big roles in India’s success.

Only a Few Seniors Were Kept

In the T20 series against Pakistan in 2012, only Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh were part of the squad from the World Cup winning team.

Later that year, England toured India. In that series, only Gambhir, Yuvraj, and Zaheer Khan were included in the team for the Test matches. Other senior players were nowhere in the squad.
