India is stepping into a new chapter of Test cricket. Shubman Gill, one of the brightest young stars in Indian cricket, has been named the new Test captain. He will lead the team in the upcoming 5 match series against England, which also marks the start of a new World Test Championship cycle.

Unfortunately, Mohammed Shami won’t be part of the tour as he’s still recovering from an injury. He’s being looked after by the BCCI medical team and could return later in the season.

He’s young, yes but he’s growing fast, and we’ve seen clear signs that he’s ready for leadership.
