Before the first One Day International match against Australia in Melbourne, India’s young captain Shubman Gill talked about the difficulties of changing between different types of cricket.

He also shared how senior players inspire him and what he’s learning as a leader. After a long flight from the Test series, Gill said the team got ready for one day games quickly. He acknowledged that changing from Test matches to One Day Internationals is more about changing your mindset than your skills.
The important thing is to clear your mind, Gill said. The field looks good for one day matches, and everyone is concentrating on practicing the basics.
He also gave a compliment to his older teammates Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, saying they are some of the best players in one-day cricket ever, He pointed out that their calmness and experience really help younger players during tough situations
As the new captain, Gill said he is thankful and excited to continue the work of the heroes he looked up to. I grew up seeing them lead and win for India. I’m excited to work with them and learn from them,” he said.
Gill mentioned that he frequently asks older colleagues for help when things get tough, as he wants to learn from their experience in leading and making choices.
