I’m truly excited; I’ve been eagerly awaiting this moment for quite a while, particularly after discovering that Brendon McCullum would be taking charge of all of English cricket, not just the Test squad. It’s wonderful! I’ve respected him as a player and seen his impact on the Test team, which has greatly influenced English cricket. Now, he will also be at the helm of the white-ball format, and when I look around at the remarkable talent we possess, I believe we’re in for a fantastic series.

This will be Brendon’s first role since he took on this position. how much have you talked with him since his appointment, and what message do you plan to share with the team?

Yes, I’ve had quite a few conversations with him. I’ve known Brendon McCullum for some time and have also played against him. He’s a close friend of Morgan’s, so I’ve interacted with him through Morgan, which has been great. I’m eager to build that coach-captain relationship and work together professionally, learning from his perspectives. I believe that whether it’s Test cricket or white-ball cricket, he will communicate a unified message to everyone he wants us to be an exciting team that puts pressure on the rivals and provides entertainment.
