Mushfiqur Rahim has been part of Bangladesh cricket for so long that it is hard to imagine the team without him. In 2025 he hit another major milestone by becoming the first Bangladeshi to play 100 Test matches.

He made the moment even bigger by scoring a century against Ireland in Dhaka. Only a handful of cricketers have ever managed a hundred in their 100th Test, and he is now one of them. Mushfiqur was born on May 9, 1987, and made his Test debut at Lord’s in 2005 when he was only seventeen.
From that point on, he has worked himself into the heart of the team. His rise from a young kid in the dressing room to Bangladesh’s leading Test run scorer is a story built on steady improvement and sheer hard work. By late 2025 he had 6,457 runs from 100 Tests, the most by any Bangladeshi.
His achievements are not just numbers. His unbeaten 219 against Sri Lanka in 2018 is still the highest Test score by a Bangladeshi. He is also the only Bangladesh batter and wicket keeper to have three Test double hundreds. On top of that, he has scored Test centuries in England and Australia, places where visiting batters usually struggle.
This year reminded everyone why he is still one of the most dependable players in the side. In three Tests he scored 546 runs at an average over sixty. His 203 not out in Wellington helped Bangladesh win a Test series in New Zealand for the first time.
He also made 150 against Pakistan at home and another hundred against Ireland in his 100th Test. Every time the team needed someone to hold the innings, he stepped up. As a wicket keeper, he has more than 100 dismissals, which no other Bangladeshi keeper has come close to.

In ODIs he leaves a strong record too, with nine centuries and five World Cup appearances before retiring from the format earlier in the year. What makes Mushfiqur stand out is his attitude. He fights through tough situations, plays long innings, and rarely throws his wicket away.
Even at 38, he trains and competes like someone ten years younger. For Bangladesh cricket, Mushfiqur Rahim has become more than a senior player. He represents reliability and pride. His performances in 2025 show again why many people believe he is the best batter the country has ever produced.
