Mohammed Siraj is the heartbeat of India’s pace attack. With every ball he bowls, he brings raw emotion, unmatched energy, and fierce dedication. On the field, Siraj mirrors the intensity and fire of Virat Kohli aggressive, focused, and relentless. He’s not just playing for numbers; he’s playing with heart.
In the ongoing Test series against England, Siraj has once again proved why he is one of India’s most dependable bowlers. Let’s break down his performance so far and ask a very real question does India’s pace spearhead need some rest?
First Test A Tough Beginning
The first Test at Headingley, Leeds wasn’t an easy one for the bowlers. Mohammed Siraj bowled long and hard, sending down 27 overs and conceding 122 runs while picking up 2 wickets in the first innings. He came back in the second innings to bowl another 14 overs and gave away 51 runs. It was clear that Siraj was giving it his all, even on a pitch that offered little help.
Second Test A One Man Show
The Second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham India’s star fast bowler was missing from the second Test, and the responsibility of leading the pace attack fell completely on Siraj’s shoulders. And boy, did he deliver! He bowled just 19.3 overs but took 6 wickets while conceding only 70 runs. In the second innings, he added another wicket to his tally in 12 overs. This match was a statement, Siraj was not just a supporting bowler anymore; he was leading the attack with pride.
Third Test Consistency in Action
The Third Test at Lord’s, London Siraj continued to show his value. He bowled 23.3 overs, gave 85 runs, and took 2 wickets in the first innings. In the second innings, he delivered another strong performance, taking 3 wickets in just 13 overs while conceding 31 runs. His rhythm, aggression, and ability to break partnerships were on full display.
Fourth Test Signs of Fatigue?
By the time the fourth Test came around, Siraj had already bowled a lot of overs in the series. He bowled 30 overs in the first innings, gave away 130 runs, and picked up just 1 wicket. The numbers weren’t as sharp, and it’s fair to say he looked a little tired understandably so

The Bigger Picture Does Siraj Need Rest?
From 2021 to the ongoing July 2025 Test series, Mohammed Siraj has played 40 Test matches and claimed 114 wickets. That’s a lot for a fast bowler who gives every bit of himself in every match. With such heavy workloads.
India needs a fully fit Siraj for upcoming key series. Maybe it’s time to rotate and give him a breather not because he’s underperforming, but because he deserves it.
